Professional Dairy Producers Care for Cows… and People!

Russ and Laura Warmka had a double-good reason for buying their first GEA WestfaliaSurge Rotating Cow Brush in 2009. First, the cows love it. Second, buying it at the 2009 Live Auction meant supporting the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation.

And you know what? These dedicated dairy producers did it again in 2010. They bid on and won a second cow brush at the 2010 Live Auction. Proceeds for the auction benefit the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation.

“Now we have one on each side of the barn,” Russ laughs. The Warmkas strive to make their cows as comfortable as possible. But it's clear that under the Warmka's practicality is a desire to support the industry they love.

“We've got a long history in the dairy industry,” Russ says, “and we want it to continue for the next generation.” Russ and Laura have four children—all in high school at Fox Lake , Wis. where they make their home. Carrie, Erik, Brad and Danielle are all involved in 4-H, FFA and Junior Holsteins. Carrie and Erik have attended PDPW's Youth Leadership Derby, a dairy career-building event and one of the youth activities supported by the Foundation.

Russ and Laura hope to build a business that will be available for their children, if they so choose. “Our goal is to offer a viable business opportunity that gives the next generation all the career and lifestyle benefits that dairy farming provides.”

The Warmkas belong to Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin because they benefit from educational programs that have helped them maintain and grow their dairy farm business. “We need that continuing education to help build our business,” Russ says.

The Warmkas are an example of today's professional dairy producer—both practical and forward-thinking. Thanks, Russ and Laura, for your continued support of the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation.
