Professional Dairy Producers Foundation names new board members

Fond du Lac, Wis.—March 30, 2010--The Professional Dairy Producers Foundation announces that two new board members who will begin three-year terms of service on April 1.

  • Pete Giacomini, Verona, Wis., is currently the chief operating officer for AgSource Cooperative Services. Under his leadership, the Wisconsin-based cooperative has become a major national provider of DHI and ag testing services. He has been an avid champion for the dairy industry on many levels, serving as an advisor to the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) and on the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Board of Visitors.
  • Logan Bower is a third-generation dairy producer from Blain, Penn. He is active in the Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania (PDMP), having served as president of the group from 2004 to 2008. He was Pennsylvania’s representative on the industry-wide committee for the National Dairy Animal Well-Being Initiative. Bower’s Pleasant View Farms includes 550 milking cows and 700 acres.

Giacomini and Bower join three other Foundation board members: dairy producers Deb Reinhart of Chilton, Wis., Loren Greenfield of Markesan, Wis., and JoAnn Maedke of Eden, Wis. Judy Rupnow, current Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association—Wisconsin Area, retires from the board after five years of service including three years as Chair. Dayton Hougaard, Manager for the Baraboo Energy Office of United Cooperative, also leaves the board after four years of service, including three years as Secretary-Treasurer.
